Covid pandemic has impacted many Indian families in a big way. We are slowly trying to recover from the after effects. It is now time to be optimistic, careful and look up to the future.

Pregnancy is a precious state where we not only need to take care of the mother; but also the foetus from any harmful effects related to Covid infection. We need extra care when we are dealing with Pregnant women.

As per worldwide studies, Pregnant women are no more likely to Covid infection than other healthy adults. Approximately, two-third of Pregnant women who were diagnosed with Covid infection, presented with mild symptoms of running nose, occasional fever or bodyache. It is important for pregnant women to strictly adhere to all recommendations made by their Gynecologist.

“For all our Pregnant patients, we recommend balance diet, mild exercises on a regular basis, supplementation with Folic Acid, Vitamin D, social distancing measures and Covid appropriate behaviour for themselves, and their immediate family members,” says Dr Deepika Tiwari, Consultant Gynecologist in Gurgaon.

There is on-going research on the safety & risk- benefit analysis of Covid vaccination for Pregnant women. Till such time vaccination during Pregnancy is accepted by our medical body, it is appropriate for pregnant women to follow all protocols issued by Government from time to time.

“We offer our Pregnant patients an option to follow up with us via Video- consultation, Tele- Consult or even started sending our Care staff to monitor them at home. We recommend visits to Specialty Maternity Clinics to further reduce exposure in hospitals, that tend to get more crowded due to patients from various ailments visiting there,” pointed out Dr Deepika Tiwari.

5 Point Recommendation for Pregnant Women
