Australian Pacer, Sean Morris, eyes Test debut against India in February

January 21, 2023

Lance Morris, uncapped Australia pacer, is fresh from his season as the leading wicket-taker for the Sheffield Shield. He believes that he has the best chance to make his debut against India in Nagpur on Feb 9.

The 24-year-old tearaway pacer who can deliver at 150-plus kmph has been included in Australia’s 18-member squad for two Tests of the four match marquee Border-Gavaskar series.

Fox Sports quoted the West Australian saying, “I’m going do everything I can be as ready as possible.”

Morris is likely to sport the Baggy Green, as Australia’s fastest bowler Mitchell Starc will not be available for the first Test.

Starc’s understudy, Morris was part of Australia’s Test team during their recent series victory over South Africa.

“If we are honest, that’s probably the best chance I have of playing over there. Morris stated, “We’ll see what happens.”

“It will be my first overseas cricket tour, so it will be an incredible learning experience for me. It’s a great opportunity to travel.

Morris, a young, untrained teenager from Dunsborough on Australia’s west coast, near Perth, was selected by Western Australia, where he made his debut in 2020.

In his first season, he took 12 wickets in five matches. He played in every match of WA’s drought-breaking Shield title-winning campaign and won 20 scalps.

Morris has now added 27 wickets from his five matches this season.
