Haryana CM Khattar Announces Restart of Panchayat Games to Promote Sports Culture

Manohar Lal Khattar, Haryana Chief Minister, announced Monday that competitions at the block, village and district levels will be held by the Panchayat Samiti, Zila Parishad, and Panchayat Samiti to promote sport culture in rural areas. These competitions will feature 12 sports.

In addition to this, the Chief Minister announced that he would establish a medical college at Rasulpur village, Fatehabad, and a nursing college at Jakhal.

Khattar addressed the crowd during the ‘Madhur Milan’ programme and the ‘Pragati Rally,’ which were organized by Development and Panchayats Ministry Devender Babli at Tohana’s Bidhai Khaera village to mark the 126th birthday of Netaji Subhash Chaudra Bose. Dushyant Chautala, Deputy Chief Minister, was also present at the event.

Khattar revealed development plans worth Rs 580 crore for the residents of Tohana. Inauguration and foundation stone were laid for projects in the amount of Rs 272 crore. He also announced that the Government College, Tohana would be established outside of the city limits. It will be located on approximately 15 to 20 acres.

The Chief Minister paid tributes to Netaji Subhash Chaudra Bose and said that “Due to Netaji, many freedom fighters, today we live in freedom in an independent nation.” It was different in the past when the country needed to be saved; but today, there is a need for the country to live.” He stated that the state government has introduced various welfare schemes to improve the socio-economic status of the citizens by following the mantra “Haryana Ekharyanvi Ek”.

Khattar stated that Panchayat was the third government, and the state government has granted many powers to these local governments. “The power was not given to the panchayats by previous governments, but now they can get their development work done independently by our government. The Panchayats have the money and can spend it as they wish. They can adopt the resolution and have the development work in their region completed. He added that if the power or money has to be increased as per the demand, it will be taken up.”

According to him, to empower the panchayats financially, the option of giving 2 percent of stamp duty to them has been created. “In the quarter ended in the current financial year, Rs 1100 crore was released to the panchayats for the development of the villages. He also stated that an inter-district council was formed in order to strengthen the Panchayats.

He stated that transparency in the development of works has been ensured by a system. Transparency is something that the public also likes. He said that the development works were done in villages but that they need to be maintained by retired people who have the support of sarpanches.

He stated that Gram Darshan portal was created to allow people to directly contact the government about the development of the villages. He said that 26 development works were requested by Tohana constituency residents, which were approved.

Khattar stated that every benefit from any scheme is being delivered to the last mile through the Parivar Pehchan Patra, (PPP) by the state government. “Now, ration cards can also be made automatically by the PPP. 12 lakh new ration cards were issued. He said that the state government had prepared an action plan to ensure all-round development and welfare. It emphasized education, security, self-respect, and self-reliance. According to him, the data collected from the Parivar Pehchan Pattra was divided according to age groups and assigned to each department.
